Kid's Area! CT Safe Routes to School

Parents & Community Groups

Successful SRTS programs include involvement from children, parents, teachers and school administrators, and town officials. In many instances, it is the passion and determination of a single parent that is the catalyst for a successful SRTS program.

As a parent, you can be an integral part of your school community's SRTS Team. Your involvement can be anything from walking or biking your own children to school to starting a walking school bus, bike train or car pool within your neighborhood to actively promoting Safe Routes to School at your school’s Parent Teacher Organization and Board of Education meetings.  If you have an interest in bicycling or walking, you can volunteer to run a walking or biking club or work with your school administration and the Connecticut Safe Routes to School Program to host a Bicycle Roadeo or Safety Town Activity Day for your child’s school.
